Why SpringLife?

SpringLife Counseling and Coaching is born out of a vision in Dr. Courtney Putnam’s heart of what the counseling and coaching experience will be. Dr. Putnam knows that there are times when people feel stuck in pursuing the personal, relationship, marriage, parenting, and career goals that they have for themselves.

The time of being stuck can feel like a long winter….cold and isolated, drab and gray, with no new life in sight.  Sometimes a person can feel that they will be stuck in that place forever.  At SpringLife our mission is to provide a setting where the things that have been keeping a person, couple, or family stuck can be worked through, and a person can begin to experience life anew.  In creating this setting and counseling experience, several priorities exist for us at SpringLife:

  • First, we want you to experience your time in counseling or coaching as similar to being able to walk alongside a (water) spring, free to take in the beauty that surrounds you, to drink from the fresh water, to discover things about yourself as you break away from the fast pace of life, and to be renewed.  Setting aside the time in life to be strengthened by counseling or coaching can give you the resources to live your life in the way that is fulfillling to you and to those you are in relationship with.
  • Second, we want you to experience your time in counseling or  coaching as being like a “spring”board….to help you move toward the personal and professional life goals that you have.  Picture a diver jumping off of a springboard into a pool.  It gives her  that extra bounce and she is able to jump higher and perform her dive better than she would have been able to without the energy coming from the springboard.  The time you spend in counseling or professional coaching can give you the energy and forward momentum to help you make the changes you have been wanting to make in life.
  • And third, we want you to experience your time in counseling or coaching as a time that brings forth a season of  spring in your life, one of new and beautiful beginnings after hard times, and after exerting the effort to get through those hard times.   We have a core belief that when a person has seen winter, and when they have worked hard to meet their goals, then they are much less likely to take the beauty of their “new life”  for granted.  And so, at SpringLife, we want to help you get on the road to a season of life which will give the “winter” meaning and purpose as a time that created something beautiful in your personal life, marriage, or career.

We feel honored and privileged to walk alongside clients through the “winter” of life….and to provide a safe place for them to gain the resources and forward momentum they need for life to begin anew.  If you have questions about whether SpringLife might be right for you, please contact us.

When the night has been too lonely
And the road has been too long,
And you think that love is only
For the lucky and the strong,
Just remember in the winter
Far beneath the bitter snows
Lies the seed that with the sun’s love
In the spring becomes the rose.
